2020 was my third year spent with affiliate marketing. I’ve seen a lot and now I feel that I’m ready to share some CPA hacks with you.

The adult niche has always been and will be one of the most profitable niches for COD offers, you just need to know how to work with it.

Here is my scheme: I was running traffic from Facebook using farmed fake accounts, to a Google site without cloaking (yes, it’s truly possible). Doing nothing special with landing and pre-landing pages, I used default ones of AdCombo. I usually prefer to use Indigo browser and mobile proxies for promotion, and this campaign was no exception.

Working with Xtrazex offers in other GEOs had brought quite good results, but it wasn’t enough for me. 

In the context of rising Coronavirus anxiety, constant affiliates complaints against permanent FB bans, terribly low CR, and destructive influence of the pandemic on the whole CPA niche, I decided not to give up and revive the traffic running! 💪 Italy has become a perfect GEO solution for this mission since I’ve already had the positive outcomes of running several offers there.

Looking for the best creative

Having wandered in search of a cool creo, I found exactly what I needed.

My previous experience of working with male enhancement offers has shown that a simpler text is better.

The variants of slogans were very similar:

– Il tuo “AMICO” dovrebbe essere 3 volte più spesso e più lungo! – Your “FRIEND” must be 3 times thicker and longer!

– Il tuo “AMICO” sarà З volte più spesso e più lungo! – Your “FRIEND” will be 3 times thicker and longer! and e.t.c.

I used AdCombo’s pre-landing and landing pages as they performed well when used on other GEOs:

There was no mercy for me, since all my 8 accounts were banned soon after I started running my ads. That wasn’t a big surprise – such a scenario was predicted. Without wasting a minute, I opened a Photoshop to fix the trouble elements of the creative or, in other words, censor it a little.

Here is the result:

The second attempt was much more successful. I used 50 accounts to promote the offer with the above-mentioned creative pair. In this case study I’d like to draw your attention to the specific account I utilized.

But… I was disappointed as the cost of a lead was a bit higher – around $3, however, I still believed in the power of my creo.

DAY I:

Not giving up, I continued testing it. The next day the cost of a lead changed from $3 to $1! (FB automation did its work perfectly!)

DAY II:

Here is the statistical data of one of the most efficient accounts:

The time span was more than a month and a half.

The average CPL was  $2.07.

Summarize

I spent $965 in total. My income was $2415, thus, the net profit was $1450.

Based on my experience, I can state that your performance in the GEO – Italy directly depends on the audience you hit.

During the campaign’s scaling, the creative pair didn’t always bring the same profit, nevertheless, Italy is a very lucrative GEO, you just need to have the right action plan and a bit of patience.

In the middle of July, I and my affiliate-mates have found a scheme for buying Google traffic and quick Google Ads accounts registration. So we, without a second thought, started testing different offers in Europe and Asia. One of the networks we tried was AdCombo.
We’ve contacted a manager, found out what offer worth trying and started the testing. Some offers worked pretty well and one of them was Motion Free in NL, BE.

For the most part, I tested ContextMedia and almost didn’t use Search Ads. It was the time when you could use text ads (without pictures) and easily pass the Google-bot moderation.

Audience: men and women, 45+

Devices: Mobile phones and tablets

I made about 5 ad groups in one campaign, each with different keywords. So I used 2 keywords and 1-2 ads in each group.

Some of the keywords I used: knee pain, osteochondrosis (or OCD), massage, etc.

After a while, I’ve optimized my campaigns and have decreased the range of age, demography, and keywords. Then I have added a few ad places – some websites and apps have had very interesting results.
In the end, I’ve come to the most profitable criteria of the target audience: men, 55+. By the way, I also left “Unknown” age – it had a good ROI as well.

Speaking of ads – I used only text ones and tried to reduce the use of the forbidden words. Translate service has helped me to make a text-only version. And this is the main reason why Google didn’t ban my accounts right away.
I had 4 accounts that have successfully passed the moderation and were able to run ads. Other accounts I made have been blocked by Google. So I decided not to complicate things and left it at that. My best account has spent more than $1100!

Pay your attention to the budget. Even if your account gets blocked, the budget keeps increasing. It happens because of the automatic rules. I used them to raise my daily budget by 13% every day. I didn’t do it by myself – it may cause freezing my account. So I raised my daily budget and could buy more traffic – easy-breezy.
In the end, AdCombo has increased the payout for me to $23.5 – a nice bonus, taking into account that the approval rate for this offer is 67%.

So, what can I say?

I didn’t make much effort – checked out my campaign in the morning just to edit something. The automation played a key role in my profit. I mean, raising the number of accounts and daily budget.
Finding the cheapest target audience by age, geo, etc – that’s what brings a profit. If you just started buying the traffic, pay your attention to the criteria that may lower the cost per click. So the ad spend gets lower and you get more profit 😉

I used to run offers in CIS countries but I didn’t get any profit. Different affiliates started to talk about other countries in community chats. Such a page brought quite a lot of orders – I received about 100 messages through DM daily. People just didn’t get how to place an order and texted me there, I had to process all the requests manually but so I got 100+ order only from Direct.

I like to test different networks with different types of traffic. I started to work with propellerads.com (and with push-notifications as well) a couple of months ago and that’s why I decided to share my case-study with you – it’s a really interesting experience.

I thought a lot about what offer to choose or, in other words, what offer could generate large revenues. And that’s when I found AdCombo’s Money Amulet for Europe. I think I should mention that I had an experience with Money Amulet before but only for the CIS countries.

AdCombo has one standard landing page for Money Amulet – BG and so I used it. Speaking of pre-landing – my choice fell on the horoscope one (and it worked out).

 

Honestly, I have not been thinking about banners a lot. I have had experience in teaser networks already so I just picked up the most profitable banners and used it. Of course, I optimized them for my GEOs.

Banners with the signs of the zodiac were the most popular, I didn’t even test other ones.

 

I run traffic 24/7, had a good conversion rate and added a couple of sites to the blacklist in 2 days.

And what about money spent? I paid per click because CPM was too high. CPC was about $0.01-0.02 – it depended. If there was a lot of traffic then I made it lower, if not so much, then higher.

I used both desktop and mobile platforms, no limit. I was glad about PropellerAds traffic, it was pretty good but we need to understand that all of this, however, depends on your offer. You should test, test and test it relentlessly.

 

 

I had been running traffic for 7 days, the conversion rate got lower and I stopped my campaigns. But it was good anyway – $304 of net profit for 7 days without any special settings and checking your campaigns every hour.

So I can say that you can (you must, I would say) take you profitable banners from teaser networks and give them another life in push-notifications. It may actually work!

What is really important to know – you can’t run “adult” with PropellerAds. So when you will be doing your creative materials, make sure they are not 18+.

AdCombo wants to add that you should take an example from our affiliate. Always try something new – traffic sources, platforms, banners, etc. Don’t be afraid to experiment – this is the only way to learn something new and useful 🙂

I started my affiliate marketing journey quite some time ago and I like push notification traffic for its simplicity. When starting your push notifications campaign you don’t have to go through numerous settings, everything is rather straightforward.

What my basic strategy looks like:

1) Finding GEO, not overheated with other affiliates promoting offers for it.

2) Based on the GEO I usually ask my affiliate manager in AdCombo to give me offer recommendations.

When launching my campaign average CPC for Lebanon was about $0.007 – $0.013, quite good isn’t it? When dealing with push notifications I usually choose CPC not CPM because: to have a profitable campaign with CPM your ads should have a CTR of around 10%, if you don’t have such it I recommend you using CPC model instead.

Prelander

Sometimes newbies ask me: Should I use prelander when dealing with push traffic? I usually tell them that there is no right answer to this question – you should always TEST and see what is working for you.

In my case, first I performed tests without prelander.  Conversion rate was good, but approval rate was low, that’s why I decided to stick to a prelander + landing page. Have a look at the best performing prelander :

Banners

For diet offers I thought of at least 10 different banners, which includes classic before/after, women in burka, some human body drawings and a mug filled with cucumbers. Nothing extraordinary for these type of ads. And to be true most banners were successful.  

All texts were in Arabic, something like this:

Headline: Slimming without dieting and physical activity

Main text: Loose 7 kg a week!

Now let’s get down to numbers

To be honest,  this campaign wasn’t my main one. I was checking and optimising it from time to time.  

Let’s see, what we have: 146 conversations and $387 total spent, so on each conversion was spent $2.65.

 

It was really cool that AdCombo has payout of $14 for this GEO!

Further you can clearly see that average approval rate was 40%. It means that with 146 conversions we end up with 58 confirmed leads.

BACKGROUND

These days Thai GEO is pretty popular and it gains momentum day by day. Our publisher (this case author) decided to follow the recommendations of our affiliate manager Anna and took the offer Body Armour. PREPARATION

To pass Facebook moderation process your ads should follow all FB Ads Policies. An ad creative undesirable for Facebook means that a page shows Before and After photos, doctors, facts without proofs while white hat landing page doesn’t.

The idea was to use a clean landing page that meets FB policies during the moderation process, but once our ads are approved, we apply some technical manoeuvres to switch it to a more converting lander.

Our hero wrote an article about how useful physical exercises are and placed it on Yandex.Zen. It’s a really cool service offering personalized content based on users’ interests. So, it’s rather easy to find your target audience. In our case, it was planned to transfer FB moderators to this article. The tool developed by him, similar to Keitaro, was applicated to avoid banning. You may wonder – a publisher from Russia creating articles for TH? That’s true – he has friends who are Thai native speakers, so, his article and creative materials were done properly.

TRAFFIC FLOW

The advertising campaign was set up for the male audience of 45+. And don’t forget to exclude doctors from “interests” because they may report your ad much more often than others.

The first day was devoted to testing different creative materials, but the CTR was not so good – about 2-3%. Finally, the suitable options were founded that gave the CTR 7%.

Our hero didn’t have a lot of experience in working with Thai offers.  But what to choose? A typical user will start reading every CPA forum and joining mastermind groups to find any content about how to pick the right lander. • CPC = 0.04 USD

As you can see only 30% of users achieved the lander. Only 15 leads were gained while 4 of them were rejected. The newbie wasn’t confident about the leads approval rate. Thus he stopped the campaign. 85% is a fantastic rate. Nevertheless, it provided him only $19 of total profit.

The performance will go downhill in a long run but the idea behind this case-study is that you should test offers on your own and less reading theory and procrastinate. And we want to remind that the major cross-cutting theme that runs deep in this whole article is “Keep doing it!” and “Test it”.
