E-commerce in Taiwan
People in Taiwan tend to shop online and in comparison with other countries Taiwanese are among world leaders in terms of e-commerce penetration. More than 60% of people in Taiwan purchase online. This percentage is not far from the world e-commerce leader – UK – with 77%.

There is also a reward system for customers used by the majority of e-commerce websites. In exchange to loyalty these sites give points to customers which can be redeemed for any purchase.
The design of any e-commerce website in Taiwan is Japan alike – there is too much content. The pages are crammed with a lot of information (images, texts, prices) and this type of design is extremely popular. Taiwanese people also buy from Chinese and Japanese sites, and vice versa.
The majority of e-commerce websites allows credit cards, credit card installment payments, cash-on-delivery, bank transfer, and ibon.

Mobile apps usage in Taiwan
The Line is considered to be the most frequently used social media platform among Taiwanese people. This app has overcome even Facebook, YouTube, WeChat and Instagram. Around 40% of people spend more than 30 minutes a day on social media so it can be stated that social media has become a part and parcel of people’s lives in Taiwan; the same percentage of people (40%) are not that social media addicted – they spend from 10 to 30 minutes a day on it.
Social media apps are used very often, for example, around 80% of people use them on a daily basis.
